The issue of electronic voting machines became very personal for me last week, when my sister-in-law in Baltimore had her vote "eaten" by the machine, and there was nothing she could do about it.
The machines at her precinct kept going down, and hers went down right after she clicked to submit her vote. She received no confirmation that her vote was cast and was not allowed to vote again because her secure card had been "used" and they told her that her vote should have been recorded.
This madness has got to stop. If we cannot trust our elections, we cannot trust our democracy. If we cannot trust our democracy, then we are not truly America, and our system is no better than Saddam's was - where he routinely received 99% of the vote.
Everyone should be outraged and calling their local and state governments about this, demanding public hearings on their local voting machines and election procedures.
